Several years ago, some friends of ours began an endeavor known as Harvest Farms. They were just plain ole farmers with a vision…a vision to keep the farm afloat with pumpkins…lots and lots of pumpkins!
We visited the farm the first year they were up and running. A few months later, we moved away and had not been back until this year.
Let me just say WOW!
The business has grown tremendously and we were thrilled to see the fruits of their labors. Our friends told us that the week prior to our visit they had sold 19,000 lbs of pumpkins and seen 2200 people come through the doors. For a tiny town in the middle of nowhere that is utterly amazing!

At $.25 a pound with 5 children buying pumpkins, you have to do some weight guess-timation and some mental math along the way. Ty asked me if I thought it weighed about 8#. I tugged at it and said, no, probably more like 10#. AHEM….it was
Word to the wise…pumpkins weigh more than they look!
Ever hear of “Sour Pumpkins?” lolBut, all was well, and everyone found their perfect pumpkin, including little Micah.
And thus ended another pumpkin patch trip! What a blast!
Wow – that looks like such a fun day together! Can only guesstimate how many total pumpkin pounds you brought home!! Any fun (or yummy!) plans for all those pumpkins?!?

Where is this Harvest Farms? Probably near your hometown huh? I’ve been thinking of heading over to a pumpkin patch but I haven’t a clue where any are.

AAAWWWWW…We miss you guys soooo much!! I had to show Uncle Jeff the pics of the kids especially when I busted up laughing at Keian!! Toooo cute! Uncle Jeff said he would come help him with that big ol pumpkin!!!
Looks like family fun. I don’t think we have anything like that around here. I don’t live in farmland – unless it’s corn or sugarcane!

We keep saying we’re going to carve them, but we haven’t gotten around to it quite yet. I’d like to roast the seeds and maybe use one or two to try my hand at baking them up for some REAL pumpkin treats!

A few years ago I left suns with Prince Charming and headed across the Atlantic to spend a Fall week with a friend in Madison, Indiana; and we drove past a pumpkin field. HIGHLIGHT of the trip! We see them here for few short weeks, piled high in supermarkets. I love this post!
