Keeping little hands busy during school hours is always a challenge.
Many mamas cringe at the idea of playdough, but this homemade recipe is really great at sticking together, thus creating less opportunity for teeny-tiny crusted pieces of dough all over your floor. And of course, it’s non-toxic.
Homemade Playdough
1 cup flour
1/2 cup salt
1 Tbsp oil
2 tsp cream of tartar
1 cup cold water
12 drops of food coloring
Add all ingredients except food coloring to saucepan. Whisk together to eliminate lumps.
Turn heat onto medium. Add food coloring. Stir continuously.
After a few minutes of cooking the dough will form a ball.
When the dough loses its “wet” appearance, remove from heat and transfer to storage container (we use a plastic container with a lid).
Allow to cool (although my children do not let it cool too much…they love how the warm dough feels).

I used to make playdough all the time – I think I’ll make it again – sounds fun. 🙂 You are SO right about keeping little people busy – so necessary.
Have a happy day.

I remember making this so often for my kids. The best part is that you can bake them and make Christmas ornaments as well!

Thank you for praying! My brother-in-law sat up yesterday and was talking. He has a blood infection (sepsis), and will be on the ventilator at least a few more days, but it sure looks like God answered the prayers!
He is not a believer, and will need the Lord as he recovers and deals with a long, expensive hospital stay, sans insurance. Physical therapy will be likely in the aftermath.
Again, my sincere thanks for the prayer!
