Wanna Win Some Grapeseed Oil ?

OK, let me back up a bit…

Back in December I heard a bit about grapeseed oil and thought it might be something worth trying.  I’m always up for learning about something new (or something new to me) so when Amanda @ “Popp”ing Out One Letter At a Time offered to host a giveaway of one of her Wildtree products, I jumped at the chance to sample the grapeseed oil.

A few tidbits of grapeseed oil info…

  • High in Omegas (mostly 6 & 9)
  • Rich in antioxidants
  • Rich in linoleic acid
  • High flashpoint

I ended up trying the natural butter flavored oil because I had several ideas of how I wanted to use it and was excited to see how they worked.

So, here’s what I did:

Mashed Potatoes
Instead of adding my customary butter, I used the Wildtree butter-flavored grapeseed oil.

I have to admit I was not prepared for the light green color and wondered how this would fair in my white taters.

Lookin’ good!
and the taste was absolutely buttery!

Next…

Popcorn
A family favorite, but one usually done in an air-popper.  We hadn’t popped popcorn on the stove in years, so this was quite a treat!
My husband did the honors…

And everyone dug in!

Ty said he was expecting the popcorn to be oily, but it wasn’t.  In fact, there was absolutely no need for the greasy mess of butter on this popcorn!  It had a rich buttery flavor that made for a quickly emptied bowl!

The latest thing we tried was using the grapeseed oil as a dipping sauce.  Now Wildtree makes some yummy sounding grapeseed oil dipping sauces, but I wanted to see how one product handled diversity.

I think this one ended up being our favorite!  I added salt, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and onion powder and everyone grabbed some crusty french bread and devoured it!  The wonderful buttery flavor was a perfect compliment to our bread and I ended up having to make another bowl because of how much my children enjoyed it!

So, there you have it…our adventure with grapeseed oil!  Now, don’t you want some too?

Here’s how to enter:
Please make each entry a separate comment!  And please make sure I have a way to contact you.

1.  Post a comment here.  Try to be creative and incorporate something about grapeseed oil into your comment, but if you don’t, you still get an entry cuz you’re cute!

2.  Blog, Tweet, or Facebook this giveaway.  Each of these is 1 entry.  Please make each one a separate comment.

3.  Buy something from Amanda between now and the end of this giveaway and get 5 entries! (you can let me know you’ve purchased something from her in just one comment–I’ll make sure I get you all 5 of your entries)

The giveaway will end THIS FRIDAY (January 15) at MIDNIGHT.  Winner will be announced on Saturday!
Good luck!

I’ve never used it , but my husband swears by grapeseed extract supplements. He says he can really tell the difference in how his joints feel. So this would probably be a plus for our family.

Hi Amy, this was a good post. The grapeseed oil looks yummy. If I won it I would definitely try it the way you did, and in some salads with vinegar and seasonings.

I can’t have mayonaise because I am allergic to eggs,so I use grapeseed oil Veganese and it is good…and good for you too.

Hi Amy! I thought about trying to use a nickname for you for a minute, but what’s short for Amy – ha!!! Hi Am! or Hi My! :)

Anyway, I’d LOVE to win some of this, especially the buttery one like you tried. Like Julia Child, I couldn’t live without butter. I LOVE butter – could honestly take bites right off the stick – but I wouldn’t dare do that. (Don’t tell anybody that I do!) I use extra virgin coconut oil to pop popcorn and add a ton of real butter, but I’d love to try this to pop it. I have a stir-crazy.

Anyway… is this Grapeseed oil expellor pressed?

Okay, off to let others know about it so I can get more entries. I’ll be back to let you know.

    Have a lovely day friend.

PS I didn’t see *Personal, real life friends of Amy may not enter, so I’m assuming I can. :)

Okay – so Grapeseed oil isn’t THAT important to me, but I am curious about this butter flavored stuff. I buy the Vegenaise with Grapeseed oil and I’ve bought it to make Mayo too. Okay – I think I’m done entering now.

You’re laughing at me aren’t you? That’s okay. I like making people laugh.

    Bye again.

I hate to say it, but i can’t help but wonder what chemicals they’ve added to the (wonderful) grapeseed oil to create a “butter flavor”? It is kind of you to be generous, um, don’t think i want to join the give away, however.

i just wanted to leave a comment in regards to the ‘chemicals’ added to make the butter flavor. the butter flavor comes from coconuts. wildtree is an all natural company…which means it doesn’t have any of that yucky stuff. :0) here is the prodcut profile card on the butter oil: http://www.wildtree.com/BinaryWrite.aspx?BinaryFileID=1116
let me know if anyone else has any questions!! you did a great job on the review amy! glad you enjoyed it. :0)

Wow, Grapeseed oil can do all that? I am so excited about the popcorn idea because we are really into eating home popped popcorn and I will not put butter on it because I don’t like soggy popcorn. I would love to try grapeseed oil on my family, well actually on the popcorn for my family, to see what they think. Thanks for the chance to get one free.

I would LOVE to win this! My dad is having blood pressure problems and they just took him off of all salt. I think the buttery taste of this and the fact that it doesn’t have cholestoral would allow him to enjoy his popcorn snack without guilt! Thanks again!

We have just begun the process of green living, healthy eating, etc in our house. So, this oil sounds like it would be very helpful to us! I think that my kids would love on rice!
