Every now and then you read a book that makes you want to stand up and cheer. Every now and then you read a book that humbles you and causes you to want to do something bigger than yourself. Every now and then you read a book that causes you to see potential and purpose in the little things.
Today I introduce you to the book that has done all this and more: One Million Arrows by Julie Ferwerda.
About a month ago I asked if you were raising arrows. Our family was featured in the short video teaser I showed you in that post due to the fact that we had been chosen to be a part of the One Million Arrows Blog Tour. At that time, I had not read the entire book, but I liked what I saw on the website, and doesn’t it make sense that a blog named Raising Arrows should be part of a book tour for a book about…Raising Arrows?
So, what makes One Million Arrows so inspiring?
The vision.
“No longer can our lives revolve around sports, entertainment, amusement, busyness, or a host of other ‘good’ or even ‘good enough’ activities. They must revolve around best, through getting to know God very personally, glorifying and enjoying Him, and then bringing His Good News to others.” (p71)
The book contains inspiring stories of everyday people changing the world, parenting with purpose, all with furthering God’s kingdom in mind.
And it’s not just about raising your own biological arrows! It’s about reaching the children of this world any way you can, training them in righteousness and the ways of the Lord, then shooting them out into the world to make a difference. This can be done through everything from adoption to funding orphanages who train with God’s purposes in mind!
You really can be a part of something much bigger…don’t sell yourself short!

During the past few months, the Lord has been giving me glimpses of the big picture and leading me toward the mindset of lining up all of our daily activities with His goals for my children’s future. He has encouraged me through our first year of homeschooling with Psalm 127:4, showing me that this is a method He has given me of sharpening these arrows of mine. I want to read this book!! Thanks for highlighting it here for us.

Definately will include this with my next Amazon order.
I have been thinking much about how to get my own kids outside themselves. We do so many activites but for ourselves. Anyway, probably not what the book is about but I want my kids to not be good little nice “Christian” kids I want them to live the gospel in everyday and serve other people nor just attend another homeschool co-op and art class.
