Cleaning Music

Music has always been very important to me.  I grew up in a family that sang, and when I’m not feeling well, music always picks me up.  In our home there is music playing much of the time, be it created by my older children playing the piano, or the CD player, or the computer (my husband likes to “listen” to You Tube at night while he works on the computer!)

So, it makes perfect sense that the soundtrack of our family would include Cleaning Music!  During our 15 minute Tidies, we play our Cleaning Music Playlist and we’re off!

Now, I can still remember during 2-a-day High School volleyball practices, we did an excruciating aerobic workout. To this day, every time I hear the song “Danger Zone” I feel relief! That song meant the workout was ALMOST over! So, naturally THAT song had to be the last song on our Cleaning playlist, signaling Tidy Time is ALMOST over! Phew!

So, how do you motivate your kids during cleaning sessions?

  1. Great post.
I am going to try this, I think it will be more effective than what I have going on now. =)

I think I have the Hamster song stuck in my head.

  3. I LOVE this idea. Adding music to clean up time, especially the same music each time, sounds like such a fun way to get things done. I also love that you know when you are almost done by the song that is playing. What a great idea!! I usually turn on the radio during chore time, but the kids still ask “how much longer.” Plus, they have kind of out grown the clean-up song.

  4. MUSIC! I’m a kid…well, kinda…I’m 15, and I don’t function without music. :) I play or sing when I’m not around a Cd/Computer/Mp3 player. I listen to music when I clean to, it just makes it more fun. I LOVE Celtic music though (I play the harp so Celtic music is just a part of life) and Celtic Woman is my favorite. :) Also, Irish jigs are a fun thing to listen to when you clean, cause they’re upbeat and almost make you (at least me anyway) kinda “dance” while you clean. :) :)
    Blessings,
