Some Changes Around Here

My amazing husband!

I just spent an amazing 4 days with some amazing families.  I am renewed and refreshed, but most importantly, I am refocused.

With this refocusing comes change.

Some changes I’m not ready to divulge quite yet, but one thing I am ready to discuss is the change that will come to this blog because of my refocusing.

I love to write.  Writing is a part of who I am.  I consider myself a writer, not a blogger, and because of that, I refuse to post anything fluffy or lacking substance.  Therefore, my posts are not something I just throw together.  They take time.  Time, I am realizing, that is better spent focused on my Lord and my family.

You may have noticed Raising Arrows has become a 6 day a week project.  Because I love to write, it isn’t a burden to me, and because I love the interaction with all of you, I find my time spent here quite edifying.

I do not feel called to leave this all behind, but I do feel called to ease up.  While chasing a GOOD thing, I lost a foothold on the BEST thing.

So, it’s time to practice what I preach.  The posts here will slow a bit as I take some of that creative energy and apply it to the best things.

How grateful I am to the influence and encouragement of godly families and most importantly, my own husband – all committed to focusing on the best things.  I am truly blessed.

Don't miss a moment of Raising Arrows:

  1. I’m so glad you had a wonderful time at the retreat! How sorry I am that I will never get to go to one! I think you are doing the right thing Amy, you know what God has placed in your heart to do, and so you are doing it. I pray that this extra focus time on your family will be blessed. xx

  2. Isn’t it great to experience something like that?! To be inspired & humbled at the same time…

I totally understand where you are coming from. I’m far from being a “writer,” but LOVE blogging. It is therapeutic for me & connects me with ladies that are unfortunately not common in my “real life.”

But I went thru the same thing about 1 1/2 ago that you’re going thru now… only my situation involved my work outside the home, in my Church. Isn’t it weird how hyper-focused we can get??? LOL!

I’m sure your posts will be just as wonderful… no matter how many or how frequent they are! ;-)

  3. Hi Amy~

You are wise to realize the time blogging takes….and the time taken to read others blogs!
Even for those whoms writting comes easy….it is still work!
I will miss the fluff and stuff though….for me it makes the blog homey and approachable! :(

Soon you will have a lovely bundle of pure joy to hold and snuggle with~ that will and should take up most of your time.

    You are in my prayers!
And I sent you my love!

As of late I have not even felt the need to read many blogs…I stop in at a few different blogs each week.
I follow a ton of blogs but rarely read them.
Since writting does not come east for me….I have been just posting mainly pictures! (my blog is more of my family scrap book….I blog for me and its fine if others read it.

    O-well I’ll stop rambling~

    Peace and Prayers,
    Georgiann

  4. I completely understand. This is something I am trying to do on my blog. Good quality writing that comes from the heart takes time. I am trying to step back myself and make sure my content is what God wants. Sometimes that’s difficult. I pray both of us find the balance in blogging & family life. Many blessings to your journey!

  5. I too love blogging but I have been pulling back from the daily blogging and blog reading. Some thing in life are just higher up on the priority list. It seems as though blogging may be becoming the new idol that wants to draw us away from what’s important. My faith, relationship husband and with God always remind me of how to keep everything in proper balance.

  6. I am proud of you. It was hard at first to drop back in blogging, at first I was like- oh! it’s been 2 days! but now I write when I feel like it. Some of my favorite blogs are just once in a while. I think you have some great instructionals. Hoping you have a great pregnancy! Looking forward to whatever you may write in the future- on your schedule!

  7. I absolutely agree my friend (can I call you that?? ha!)
We can easily lose site of the best things in replacing them with good things. You chase after your savior and that handsome husband of yours and enjoy every minute of it!

  8. Amy, I love the way you share your heart, it truly blesses me. And I’m so happy your big weekend was a blessing and an eye-opener for you! They always encouraged me to give myself a ‘reality check’ too. I’ll be watching and reading, whatever/whenever you share!
