She is Breathing Down My Neck!

You remember when he went hunting?

You remember when I said I was getting a baby AND a buffalo all in the same month?

Well, the buffalo (and the baby) were a bit delayed.  Thankfully, baby wasn’t THIS delayed!

But, the buffalo is home now.  And she’s breathing down my neck!  This thing is massive and sits right over my chair!  Birds and fish over my head at night, a buffalo breathing down my neck during the day!  Gotta love it!

Now, to name this fuzzy ole monster (because, honestly, something this size hanging out in my living room NEEDS a name!)  Any suggestions?

  1. That is awesome! I hope you were able to get the meat!
    I think a fitting name would be something of an oxymoron like “Tiny” or “Princess”. Or you can do what my oldest does in naming things, he chooses human names such as “Bob”, “Fred” and my favorite “Mike” for a climbing spider plant.

  2. This post made me laugh as my husband’s family are avid, really really avid, hunters and sometimes at their homes (being raised a city girl) I feel like I am in a weird animal cage. Deer and turkeys and bears, Oh my!
    I would name her Beulah. Also like the previous post said, I hope you got the meat because that is a lot of meat!

  3. I like the oxymoron idea–something like “Fuzzy” or “Fluffy”. Just told my husband I would never say a word about the deer again. Whew! Thankful he doesn’t have a buffalo looking down at me. LOL However, the meat would be a blessing.

    Have a wonderful day!

  4. My first thought was “Maude”, I think she looks like a Maude. LOL You’re a brave woman to have that head “hanging around”. ;) Thankfully my husband is more into riding horses than trophy hunting so while he does have a pair of buffalo hide chaps, we don’t have any animals hanging on the walls. :)

  5. That’s hysterical. I vote for Tilly. She looks like a Tilly. …or Maude. Tilly is more fun to say tho. I have to say the funniest is Stew. We knew a cow named stew once. …and a turkey named Fred. Growing up, our turkey’s were always named Fred. I think it’s difficult to form an attachment to a Fred. That must be it. I like several of these, I cannot imagine how you will chose! There are some pretty creative ladies commenting here!

  6. Lathan tells me this is a male Bison. Linanne says it needs to be named yum-yum. (sounds chinese) lol I like the “Stew” or Stewy name. It sure looks big!!!!! Maybe Jerky would be a good name. You have my kids thinking of every name possible. :}

  7. Those things ARE huge. We saw one hanging on the wall at the free pioneer museum here in town (we’re in Wyoming, remember lol)

  8. Oh, I wanted to thank you for your Sonlight reviews too. What we did last year and what we’re doing this year is NOT working for us. So I decided to check into Sonlight again … read up on it from several places … and decided the cost will definitely be worth it. So we’re going to give it a try next school year and we CAN’T WAIT!! :-D

  9. I would have to name her Buffy. I can’t imagine having that hanging on my wall. It would have more to do with the picture I have in my mind of Luke (2 yrs) climbing up on it, than having it looking at me each day. :o )

  10. I grew up in a home that has 7 deer heads, turkeys, fish, and ducks mounted throughout, so I feel your pain.

    I’m thinking you could do one of those wall scene wallpaper mural things here. Surely they have a woodland or something. Then the buffalo could be like all 3D coming out of that. Embrace the buffalo!
