This is not my typical Friday post because I’ve been sick most of the week. Now that I’m feeling better, I’ve been working hard on my session for the Teach Them Diligently homeschool convention in Nashville next weekend. I’ll be presenting:
Creating the Perfect Schedule
at 9:30 on Friday morning.
Hope to see you there!
I wanted to quickly say that I did reach my Mother’s Day weight loss goal and I am officially the lowest I have been since my daughter passed away 5 years ago! This is a huge milestone for me. Keep praying I can overcome any emotions this might bring to the surface. And sorry there aren’t any photos. I looked as bad as I felt this week.
Another big event! We ordered our daughter her very first DSLR camera based on the recommendations we found here: Carlie Kercheval Photography. It is double the megapixals of what she’s been using, so expect to see some stunning photography on Raising Arrows very soon! She’s a fantastic photographer for only being 12 (she does all the photography on the site), so we are very excited to be furthering her aspirations with her first “real” camera!
I also have a brand new Swagbucks code. Swagbucks is such an easy way to earn cash and fun gift cards (you could fund an entire date night on Swagbucks!), so if you haven’t signed up yet, here’s a code that will give you
100 swagbucks right off the bat!
ARROW
expires May 31, 2013
Use your Swagbucks toolbar every time you search, and you will be well on your way to earning some awesome prizes!
And don’t forget all through conference season, you can get 15% off your DrinkBands order using code:
DBCONFERENCE
And one final special from Blessed Nest:
All customers who place ANY size order from Shannon’s site during the entire month of MAY will receive a gift certificate in the mail for 10% off their next order!
Place an order of $100 or more and you’ll receive the certificate AND 3 FREE charms!

Praying for you to completely heal quickly and for a great experience at the conference. My husband worked overtime and saved up to buy me a DSLR. I ended up with an amazing Canon T3i. My best and most creative pictures have been with a shallow depth 50mm lens. Photographers tend to refer to it as the “nifty fifty”. My daughter’s eyes come alive with it, and it does well in low light situations without a flash. Email me if you would like to see some of my favorites. Love your blog! Thank you for the encouragement!

Thank you! She’s getting an entry-level since this is her first. I’ll give her your recommendation!

hi, I tried to signup for swagbucks and use the code ‘ARROWS’ but it showed as invalid code. Please advise, thanks! Lisa 🙂

I had the same problem! Any suggestions?

I’m trying to get a hold of someone to see if I messed up my own code! I’ll get back with you as soon as I know. Sorry for the inconvenience!
Amy says
Hi Karin! Hal was out of town, so I didn’t get an answer until today. I had the code wrong – it is ARROW. You can contact support http://www.swagbucks.com/g/contact
and they will make sure you get the credit you should have!
Thank you so much!
Blessings,
Amy

So excited to hear you will be speaking at the TTD conference. I’m hoping to attend the one in Omaha.
Amy says
I’ll be there too! I’ll be speaking twice there. Be sure to find me! 🙂

For some reason, the swag bucks code won’t work for me 🙁 And congrats on the weight loss! I will keep you in my prayers.

And if only I would read comments before I make my own :p
Amy says
LOL – no problem! I do that same thing!

Congratulations on reaching your goal! That’s awesome. You should treat yourself to a fun new outfit or article of clothing for your trip to Nashville for your speaking engagement. I’m not in your neck of the woods to come hear you speak but I’m excited to say that I will be coming to Cleveland TN at the end of the month to further my training in chaplaincy. I’ve wanted to visit TN for years. Thankfully I’ll have one full day outside of the classroom.
That’s great news about the camera for you daughter. I’m currently saving to buy one as our family camera, but mostly for our 13 yr old daughter to take charge of . She’s really voicing an interest in photography. The only problem is that I know nothing in this department. Did you mention once that your daughter does a blog? If so, maybe she posts about photography??…. that would be great for my daughter to view.
Thanks Amy! May the Lord bless you as you continue to prepare for your speaking engagement. You will be a great source of encouragement and help.

Hi Josi! Meg doesn’t post about photography really, but I wonder if she’d be interested in doing more of that? Thank you for the encouraging words! 🙂
