Welcome Home Wednesday – The Final Edition

Welcome Home Wednesday - The Final Edition | RaisingArrows.net

Yesterday, I told you I was done knocking myself out in the blogging world.  Giving up the Welcome Home Wednesday Homemaking Link Up is part of that plan.

It isn’t because I don’t enjoy it – quite the opposite is true.  In fact, the best part of it is being able to promote other bloggers, but I need to allow myself the flexibility to not HAVE TO post on Wednesdays if I am not able to.

I hope you’ve enjoyed the last several years!  I know I have!

The top clicked post last week was from Always LearningGetting Married at 18?

Link up as many as 3 posts from your blog and enjoy the other links left here!  {If reading via email, please click over to see the links and leave yours!}

The Motivation to Make a Home {Welcome Home Wednesday}

What is it that makes a woman happy to work in her home?

There are many factors and many answers to this question, but one thing that helps me to joyfully work in my home is when I have motivation and encouragement.  That was the whole reason behind the Welcome Home Wednesday Link Up – to bring motivation and encouragement to today’s Christian homemaker.

Well, I have a treat for you…

On April 23 (2 weeks from today) The Ultimate Homemaking Bundle will be released for 1 week only.  This is my favorite bundle of the year because the resources are so inspirational and practical, and cover ALL facets of homemaking.  Having these resources on hand MOTIVATE and ENCOURAGE me to joyfully make a home for my family.  They teach me to be a better wife and mother.  They focus my heart on Christ, and give me the energy to keep going.

I can’t share all the details of this bundle with you today, but I will tell you this bundle is AMAZING – from special opportunities to wonderful freebies and bonuses, to ebooks and ecourses that alone are worth more than the asking price of the entire bundle – this is something I would highly encourage you to put aside money for so you can snag the entire collection come April 23!  You will not be disappointed!

And now for the weekly encouragement found here at Raising Arrows…

**Last week’s #1 clicked post was “Do I Really Want to Be Alone?” from Just One Day at a Time.**

Pastors, Missionaries, Food, & Being Fake {Welcome Home Wednesday}

Pastors, Missionaries, Food & Being Fake {Welcome Home Wednesday Homemaking Link Up on Raising Arrows}

There were so many wonderful links last week, it was hard to decide what to feature and even harder to find a common theme to pull all the posts together with.  I ended up choosing some posts I thought would stretch and grow all of you in some ways you may not have thought of.

Proverbial Homemaker asked readers to pray for their pastors with this free prayer calendar:

Prayer Calendar from Proverbial Homemaker

Do you pray for your pastor?  Do you pray for your church?  Often, we think our church leaders are above sin, temptation and the doubt and frustrations we deal with.  But, they are human too!  Praying for them is so important!

Missional Family

Are you a mission-minded family?  Do you even know how and where to start?  Missional Call had a great post to help you get started building a missional worldview.

Did you see “Food” listed as one of the features?  Well, the post I thought would be most interesting to all of you is from a dear friend of mine – Linda at Apron Strings and Other Things.

Freezer Cooking-The Apron Strings Way

This is an Intro to Freezer Cooking – Linda’s way.  I thought you might be interested to see how she uses this method to free up time for her family and serve them at the same time.  That’s really the lesson I wanted to share with you.  No matter how you find more time for your family, even if it involves cooking more WITH them, look for those ways you bring “white space” to your day and put your family first.

The “Being Fake” feature comes from a very convicting link left by Operation: Wife asking if you are a Virtual Wife.  What does that mean?  Well, consider the blog posts and Facebook updates you read throughout the day.  Consider your own updates and photos you post.  We don’t know what is really going on behind closed doors, and others do not truly know what is going on in our homes either.  Are you being “virtually” wonderful when your life is really in a shambles?  Are you able to discern the truth behind others’ posts and photos?

And finally, just for the beauty of it…

The Lord is my Defence | Gentle Joy Photography

Gentle Joy Photography left some lovely sunrise and sunset photos with Scripture – the one above was my favorite.

The number one clicked post from last week was a birth story (I know…shocking ;) ) from Candle in the Night!  (It really is a great story!)

Do You Need a Getaway? {Welcome Home Wednesday}

Need a Getaway? {Welcome Home Wednesday Homemaking Link Up on Raising Arrows}

Perhaps you’ve had a week like Tanya at Kentucky Sketches.  She had a chaotic homeschool week complete with chicken pox!

Or maybe it’s been like my toddler tornado day back when my now 8 and 9 year olds were only 1 and 2 – THING 1 & 2, that is.  (this is a golden-oldie post from my archives!  What a hoot!)

You might want to plan a Cheap Family Night In with the ideas from Marriage, Motherhood, & Missions.

You might want to head to a Teach Them Diligently Homeschool Convention like Ty and I did last weekend…

Or you might want to enter this giveaway, hosted by Covenant Ranch Trucking!

Homeschool Convention Time! {Welcome Home Wednesday}

Teach Them Diligently Homeschool Convention 2014

Tomorrow morning, I hop a plane to Nashville for our first homeschool convention of the season! I am so excited! I always get giddy when it comes to homeschool conferences because it means refreshment and refocusing for me.  From the moment I attended my first homeschool convention back in 2002, I’ve been hooked!

Over the years, Ty and I have attended many different conventions.  They each have their own flavor.  Teach Them Diligently has quickly become a favorite of mine because of its focus on families.  It’s not just about academics, and as a veteran homeschool mom, I appreciate that.  I need encouragement that goes far beyond the rigors of textbooks and spelling lessons.  This Nashville weekend is going to be a breath of fresh air!

I am also presenting 3 sessions of my own in Nashville!

Creating a Peaceful Home
Your Perfect Schedule
and
Large Family Homeschooling – based on my soon-to-be released ebook by the same name!

Large Family Homeschooling eBook releases April 1! | RaisingArrows.net

I will be offering these same sessions in Dallas later in the summer.  If you are attending either conference, be sure to look me up!  I love meeting readers!

I also want to give you a FREE gift to help you plan and prepare for a homeschool conference.  They can be overwhelming and a bit like drinking from a fire hydrant.  I’ve compiled some posts I’ve written on attending homeschool conventions into a small ebook you can download by clicking on the icon below:

FREE Homeschool Convention Survival Guide | RaisingArrows.net

I also want to note that in last week’s link up, Amy from Plain and not so plain offered a FREE Kindergarten & First Grade Curriculum, and Jennifer from A Heart for the Home gave some wonderful tips for How to Handle Homeschool Burnout.

The #1 clicked post from last week was from MamaGab, and yes, it was about babies – or rather No More Babies.  I ended up pinning this post to my Grieving Mother Pinterest Board because while Gabby’s fears did not stem from losing a child, her words echoed many of the same words in my own heart.  These are fears any mother who has had a traumatic experience must some day face.  A worthwhile read.

Blogging Topics & Ideas {Welcome Home Wednesday}

Blog Topics & Ideas {Welcome Home Wednesday Homemaking Link Up on Raising Arrows}First of all, I would never try to talk you into writing a blog.  There is a lot of responsibility that comes with blogging, and none of it should be taken lightly.  If you are interested in blogging, or feel the Lord calling you toward it, please read my Christian Mom’s Guide to Blogging!

Christian Mom's Guide to Blogging

Today’s Welcome Home Wednesday is going to give you some ideas for what to blog about and how to make your blogging better.

First and foremost, if you decide to blog, know WHY you are doing it.  What journey has the Lord put you on that NEEDS to be shared with others.

For instance, Brandy from Cast Your Worries started writing to help other Christians combat worry.  She writes from experience.  She writes with heart.  (By the way, her post last week on A New Food Disorder was a very good read!)

When you write, think about who you want to reach.  Reach them in ways that are practical and helpful.

Consider a series like 31 Days of Organizing & Decluttering Your Home from Women with Intention.  This is often a GREAT way to motivate YOURSELF to get certain projects accomplished!

Or try a weekly spotlight on a topic like First Comes Love‘s My Daughter’s Modest Monday (which also happens to be the #1 clicked post from last week) or Yes, They’re All OursMarriage Monday.  This will give your blog consistency.  You know on Monday, you write on this topic, on Tuesday, you write on this topic, and so on and so forth.

Why not try branching out into the vlogging world (my autocorrect wants to make that say FLOGGING, not VLOGGING – some of you might feel they ARE the same thing! ;) )  Stacy at Stacy Makes Cents shared a video last week on how to make kefir.  The really great thing about video is that your audience gets to see you in your home environment, and hear your voice – like Stacy’s super fun Southern drawl – LOVE it!

No matter what types of posts you choose to write, there is one thing I would highly encourage you to do:  Have good photos and graphics.

Even without Pinterest being HUGE in the online world, beautiful photos and graphics can make or break a post.  Readers are visual and want to see what you are talking about, but they don’t want to look at yucky, dark, grainy photos or loud, busy graphics.

Years ago, I used Photoshop for my photos and graphics, but since then, I’ve found PicMonkey!  This online photo editing service is FREE and really easy to use!  However, I know I don’t use it to its full potential, so I was thrilled to see a brand new ebook come out to help you become a pro at creating amazing graphics!
