I’ve been super busy this past week, so you are going to get a conglomeration of outfits I wore this week and outfits from the past several months. I also want to let you know that you are welcome to do the same and link up here since I know all too well just how busy we mommies are!
{Don’t miss the giveaway at the end of this post!}
Day 1:
This was one of my favorite outfits this past winter. My peasant top, boho skirt, and rope sandals. Feminine and fun!
Day 2:
This outfit couples my brown skirt from The Modest Mom with a brown long sleeve knit shirt I really like. I was cooking pancakes for the kiddos that morning and wearing the purple apron I made years ago.
Day 3:
This is another outfit from this winter…
Day 4:
This outfit is the one I wore when I gave my session at the homeschool convention this past weekend.
Day 5:
The second day of the convention, I wore this outfit…less professional looking, but more “me.”
Day 6:
Ty and I used to take the time of the homeschool convention as our little getaway for our anniversary. However, for several years now, we’ve been bringing children along with us. This year, we had our 8 month old and our 13 year old son in the sessions with us and our 10 year old and 6 year old daughters went to a children’s program. So, a couple of days later, Ty and I took a little getaway, thus the reason for the lovely air conditioner in the picture!
{I told my husband I won’t be wearing this shirt again until I’ve lost more weight as it looks too tight to me. Nothing like a picture to make you realize you have a long way left to go in the weight loss department!}
Day 7:
This outfit features one of my favorite skirts. I wore this when we celebrated Passover with friends this year.
And for the fun of it, here is a picture of my daughter when she took the femininity challenge at Feelin’ Feminine this past fall. In many ways, she was my inspiration to add more skirts to my wardrobe. 🙂
I can hardly believe this series has come to a close. I am enjoying wearing skirts so much more than I ever did before. I’m learning to find my style and my comfort level. And I cannot wait to see the outfits you have picked out!
{Oh, and if you’ve been wondering how to repurpose pants into skirts, Anita (one of my precious readers) shows you how in this video!}
If you have a blog post showing the outfits you are wearing, please link up here! The linky will be open for the entire week, so feel free to post at any time! And head over to The Modest Mom to see what Caroline is wearing!

I love the way you put your outfits together! They look great! Thanks so much for sharing this, and for providing the link-up so we can see what others wear as well!
Christy says
Amy,
Thank you for this series. I have loved all of it and it has helped me quite a bit. I am not much of a sewer, so I have a long way to go to get the skirts I need, but I have been able to get 2 so far from a site I found on line. I am keeping my eye open for sales and purchasing when I can.
Looking forward to all of these pictures.

I’m so sad to see all this loveliness ending! I have worn skirt my entire life and I have been so encouraged by this series. I will miss it terribly. Thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Caroline @ The Modest Mom says
Heather- You are so sweet! I will still be blogging about modesty quite a bit on my Blog, The Modest Mom, so feel free to follow there! Hopefully later in the summer I’m going to do another “week in skirts” for everyone! It has been a blessing to do this series with Amy. She is such a sweetheart!
Grateful Grammy says
Thank you for this series. (thanks to you and Caroline) Thanks for letting us see your footwear with the skirts, too. My fav is the denim skirt with the embroidered flowers. The Lord bless you!
Simply Me says
This is so fun! I’m sorry the series has ended, I enjoyed it so much.
Sharri B says
I truly enjoyed this series. One reason was because of the sweet attitude with which it was presented.
Secondly, I do wear skirts daily, but you don’t see much written about that any more. Getting the extra insight was so nice. 🙂
Thank you!
April says
Darn–I’m just on day 1 here, lol! Will you be doing this link-up again? I’m going to post it on my blog either way.
Amy says
The link up will be open all week, so you should be able to get in on it! 🙂
Sunshine Thiry says
Thanks for doing this series! I’ve been inspired to wear more of the skirts that I already own and have been perusing the clearance racks for cheap additions. I feel pretty, and my husband likes the way I look.
Lauri B says
I shared this link on my Facebook page, and thought I left a reply earlier, but I cannot find it now…so…thanks for the inspiration to wear skirts again!!

This was fun to read and see. I have to say my favorite of all your outfits is #6. I love the top. I am glad I found this series and sad that I was coming in at the end. Does it have to end? [o=
Blessings!

Becky A. says
Am going to check out how to re-purpose pants into skirts!
Bekki says
I just wanted to say thank-you for this series. I don’t normally wear skirts and I love my jeans. I also find that people look at me more when I am wearing skirts and I much prefer to blend into the crowd. However my girls love wearing dresses and skirts and I always feel weird wearing my jeans when they are all dressed up. So I ordered a couple of skirts from one of the sites you recommended. Hopefully they will fit and I hope to try to wear one once a week. I even wear jeans to church so once a week will be a challenge at first! Baby steps right? 🙂
Sarah says
I think one of my favourite skirts is the same as yours! Is that brown one on the last day from Old Navy? With smocking at the top? So comfy, and pretty, and works even pregnant! Love it :o)
Amy says
No smocking, but that would be really fun! I got it at a thrift store (like most of my skirts! lol)
Kristy says
I am a skirt wearing mama, too!
It’s lovely to see so many ladies with a heart for femininity and modesty. Thank you for this encouraging series, Amy!
Rebecca says
I have loved this series as well! I hate to see it end. I am praying God will lay something else on your heart that is as relevant to my heart as this has been. I have been re-reading it and I will probably have to re-visit it when fall/winter hits. I do not blog so I can’t link up but I have been wearing skirts pretty much all the time minus a few days here and there, for the last 2-3 months, maybe longer. If there was any way to group the whole series under a heading at the home page, for quick reading or just to look at links for the pettipants or different websites, etc., that would be great??? I’m clueless on blogs but was just wondering. Thanks to you and Caroline for a wonderful series!

Hi Amy,
I wanted to thank you for answering my SKYPE call yesterday! That was totally fun! (I was a bit nervous but wanted to try out my new SKYPE abilities!!!
I did not know of your Skirt challenge but on another blog I took one.
I wore a skirt the whole month of May in honor of Mary (Jesus mom) for Mothers Day.
I notice people treated me with more respect.
One looks more Godly I guess?
I have gone back to pants just because I need to get more skirts in my closet.
I love to shop Salvation Army!!!
Peace and Joy,
Georgiann
Elizabeth says
My favorite is your brown skirt and peasant blouse! You look so cute and feminine!
Ginger says
Oh my goodness, the socks w/ sandals absolutely cracked me up. My daughter does that in the winter and we all think it’s hilarious. Hubby and I have a rule: You’re welcome to dress like that at home, but you absolutely cannot leave the house in socks and sandals!
Amy says
hee hee 😉
Grateful for Grace says
Linked up late. I’m so glad you’ve done this series. I have an idea for another part. 😉 I’ll email you.
What an encouragement!
Melody says
I linked up late too, and used an older post for it. My clothing style hasn’t changed that much since the post was last updated, though right now it’s maternity clothes rather than regular. And right now, I tend to wear the same jean skirt every single day. It’s comfortable and goes with all my tops. :O) My wardrobe needs variety but that’s ok. It’s getting there, slowly but surely.
Thanks for this series, Amy. I really enjoyed reading it!!
lisa says
I’m a little late getting this “thank you” to you, Amy. Thanks for the wonderful, heartfelt posts! I have looked forward to Wednesdays ever since the series started. It has truly been a blessing!
Thanks again!
Blessings,
Lisa

I loved this series! I’ve been researching the controversy between all skirts/ pants lately. I, myself, am not a “skirts only gal”, but have been considering this issue. I found your blog very helpful at shedding light on this matter. Thank you very much! What was the “Feelin’ Feminine” Challenge? I looked at their website, but the link couldn’t be found.
Amy says
It was a challenge for young ladies to wear modest feminine, yet beautiful, clothing for a certain amount of time. It could be their site is no longer in existence. You might try Googling it and see if there is another link. 🙂
Sandie says
Well, how about a modest grand ma? I am 49, a grand mom to two little girls, 7 years old and 9 months. A mom to one daughter 28. I noticed in the last few months, I just want SIMPLE. I am back in my home church, very conservative, traditional baptist church and I am just SO relaxed and focused on GOD there. I found a nice cranberry colored knit skirt on Kohls last month for 4.50 Yay, go me. It flares and does not cling and is long enough, just past mid calf. I wore to church two weeks ago with a long sleeve black T and black clogs and black knit knee socks. Let me tell you, it was the most comfortable outfit I have ever put on in my life. And because it was so comfortable, I was TOTALLY engrossed in the Sunday school and church services. I didnt feel like I had to make sure I looked modest, wasnt squiggling around to get comfortable, it brought about a sense of peace . I liked the feminine aspect of it too, I NEVER wore pants to church before, but would wear a just below the knee skirt , etc. Not very comfortable at all. I found this site when looking for modest clothing for myself, and I love lurking here. Thank you so much for this segment.
Many grand moms I see are trying to compete with the teenagers now a days in their dress, etc. Now, I am not saying I want to look frum with no sense of taste, i just want to BE COVERED and modest, I dont want people saying” oh here comes that lady with the flashy clothes,” its not about ME. Its about whats pleasing to God. and if defining my role as a female is pleasing to GOD, then it is pleasing to me.
Today I shopped at Salvation Army. This is what I got for 37 dollars:
9 tops, 8 short sleeve, ( to the elbow), pull overs, gorgeous colors, all solids as I look terrible in prints. One top is army green itsy bitsy check. 3 skirts. One denim, not the longer one I was hoping for, but almost mid calf, dark denim and it flares. A 100 percent army green linen skirt, to the ankle, matches the check top, and a black polyester blend skirt. flares, just past mid calf. Oh and I found 2 dresses for my oldest grand daughter. I tried to keep the ” rule of thumb” in mind, with the khaki, black and denim skirts, 3 long sleeve tops, and 3 short sleeve tops, but it just didnt work out that way. I bought things that would cover my legs, nothing is low or tight, I hope I did a good job . I dont want to be a grand ma who wears pants, I just dont WANT that. I think you should do a segment on Grandmoms too. So much has to be addressed in that group for modesty too.
After all I bought, I still dont know which of these outfits I can actually wear around the house, and cook and clean in, run errands, etc, that will look modest, feel great, and move with me. I really need a long denim skirt and a khaki one too, huh?
