By faith Rahab the harlot did not perish along with those who were disobedient, after she had welcomed the spies in peace.
Hebrew 11:31
We’ve been reading Joshua in our family devotions at night. As we read about Rahab, I was struck by how this really bad woman was used by God and eventually ended up in the line of Jesus Christ.
On the surface, that’s one of those, “WHAT?!” moments. It makes no sense.
Until you read Hebrews. Two little words…
by faith
She believed. She trusted. She was changed.
But the “harlot” title still followed her down through the ages. However, that title, as demeaning and icky as it is, speaks volumes to the change in her life.
You never know who from your past might see who you are now and be led to Christ.
I once was lost, but now am found.
Weekends in the Word is a ministry of Raising Arrows meant to offer a time of worship and encouragement specifically for those mommies who find themselves, due to circumstances beyond their control, unable to attend worship services with other believers. However, all are welcome here each weekend to feast on His Word.

Thank you for sharing this! In life, everyone is born into sin, and those who chose Christ, have their sins washed away! Rahab a once sinful woman chose that day to choose Christ.
As Rahab stated to the two men she had hidden, she seen that their God was The True and living God.
Through her faith in Christ Rahab`s life was spared and also her family.
This is a beautiful illustration of God’s kindness and mercy on us all. Once we were all sinners but through the grace and the forgiveness of God, we were made clean through him. As Rahab the harlot turns to Christ, it shows us that no sin is ever to bad that Christ cannot forgive and write our name in the book of Life.
Rahab speak her faith in Christ in this verse Joshua: 2:11
11 And as soon as we heard these things, our hearts melted; neither did there remain any more courage in anyone because of you, for the LORD YOUR God, He IS God in heaven above and on earth beneath.

I thought about Rahab when I read Matthew’s “begats” last week…the romantic in me wondered if Salmon, her husband, was one of the two spies. 🙂
