Today is my sweet 2nd daughter’s 9th birthday!
She is always helping out in the kitchen and with the babies. She loves homemaking even at her tender age. In fact, you can see this reflected in her birthday wish list this year:
quilts
cast iron skillet
tea things
china dishes
cookbook
So, in honor of her love of all things “home”, this link up features some of the best homemaking posts from last week.
Our family used to go trekking through the woods looking for grapevine this time of year to form into wreaths and other decorations, so the DIY Grapevine Wreath from Proverbial Homemaker reminded me of those days. (Visit my grapevine wreath post to see a photo of my birthday girl when she was just a wee little thing!)
This quote from The Legacy of Home‘s post Basic Cookery caught my attention:
It is a common cliché for mothers to save money by serving “rice and beans.” This might work for many, but not in my house. One cannot always save money by doing what the masses suggest.
Mrs. White goes on to offer suggestions from cooking from scratch and how that looks in their home. This is a wonderful post!
Next, a post from Kentucky Sketches on being Married to a “Messy”.
This post is fantastic! I’m not married to a messy, but he’s had his messy moments (think pile of once-worn clothing on the floor beside his side of the bed because they needed to “air out” – totally foreign concept in my world, but whatever). Ladies, if you have a messy man, this read is for you!
And finally, Kristen at Faithful Steps shares how her family transitioned to one income. Her tips are great! She also mentions in this post an alternative form of health insurance for Christians. We use something similar (you can read about it here) and I cannot stress enough how wonderful these types of “insurances” are.
And the post that got the most clicks? It was a post by Lori from Always Learning sharing her thoughts on Miley Cyrus in her post From Good Girl to Very Bad.
Time to link up your posts and read other wonderful posts! {If you are reading via email, click here.}

Happy Birthday to your beautiful girl! 9 years old already? She’s growing into a lovely young lady. Her birthday list looks very much like my own ‘a few of my favorite things’.

I just turned 21 on Sunday and my grandmother wrote in my birthday card that I will always be the baby that sat in the crib and didn’t cry when I woke up from my nap. I love thinking about where I’ve been and where I am now and where I’m going. I hope your daughter enjoyed her birthday and has an appreciation for all of the domestic stuff she’s done in her few years on God’s earth. Thank you so much for sharing and thank you for hosting.
I’m losing my marbles. Sorry!

Amy,
Thank you so much for the feature of my post this week! I couldn’t sleep last night and was excited to see “Welcome Home Wednesday” already up and going. Imagine my surprise when I saw I was one of the featured posts!! Words can’t describe how grateful I am and how hard it was to keep from waking up my hubby at 3:30 to tell him! Happy birthday to your precious daughter as well! Thank you again.
