Tour my brand new white board schedule! | RaisingArrows.net

If you’re a homeschool mom, I bet you have more than one dry erase board lying around.  We use them for writing out spelling words, grammar sentences, math problems, chores, and a host of other things.  And now I use mine for writing out our At-A-Glance Schedule!  In my old post on creating one of these schedules, I mention how schedules are mostly for mama.   I still believe that, but in the video below, you’ll see why I decided to put the barebones of the schedule where everyone could see it.

{Subscribe to my YouTube Channel HERE – you’ll be the first to see videos as they come out!}

If you are in the market for a white board, I have a few suggestions:

1. Decide WHERE the dry erase board will go. This will determine the size and hanging method. As you see in my video, mine is on top of a bookshelf and doesn’t require hanging. When we used to have a Chore Board, it hung on the wall.  Be prepared for the fact that the traditional white boards with the sticky hanging tape on the back will ruin your walls.  Hang them with Command Picture-Hanging Strips.

2. Buy the BIGGEST white board you can for the space.  You will want to make notes to yourself and others, and will want room to add on things.  Mine is almost too small.

3. Don’t get the cheapest. The quality is terrible. {Ask me how I know.} I like the one above because the frame isn’t all plastic.  The one I have is all plastic, and I’m sorry I didn’t get a better one.  (By the way, I do prefer the ones with the frames on them.  The one I’m using above used to be our spelling board.)  A cheap white board will already looked dented and scratched before you put it up. The marks won’t erase well, and the frame will fall off eventually.  Better to avoid the trouble altogether.

4.  Keep the markers out of the reach of the little people.  Enough said.

Oh, and if you are interested in the Everyday Board you see beside the dry erase board in the video, you can read about it HERE.

    So good to hear the sound of your voice again, my friend. I’ve missed it. Definitely going to give this a try. Things have really slipped since adding a little one in January. This might be just the thing we need to get us back on track.

    We have a laminated white board that is just like a poster that is laminated. I got it at School Box. It works great and we put it up with Marvelous tape or Teacher Tape and it doesn’t fall or damage the walls.

    My parents used a whiteboard for EVERYTHING…pretty much as you said–schedule, notes, messages, lists. I need to start doing this with my own kids! :)

    Great “vlog!” Love your run down. I used to do something similar and somehow it when by the wayside. Thank you for reminding me how wonderful this is!
    I love Jamerill, although not personally friends with her, I enjoy her sites, advice and candidacy as well. In fact, your site and hers are my go to’s for homeschool encouragement ??
    Have a blessed weekend!

    This is an interesting way of doing it. My routine is written out for me to follow but not on a whiteboard. I find this hilarious that I have basically the same routine and philosophy as you do (we have a routine, not a schedule). I spent a few years getting the hang of the order of things that worked best for us, and if you’d see my routine written out, I think you’d laugh too since its basically the same, only instead of TOG I do other programs, and instead of movie each day, we sometimes do other free play during that time,

    Hey I couldn’t catch the name of the candid videos you were watching. Could you tell us again?
