Have you ever wished you could use Teaching Textbooks from any computer and log in anywhere for your child’s homeschool math? Well, now you can!
Teaching Textbooks recently introduced TT 3.0, a web-based version of their beloved curriculum. We recently started using it, so I wanted to share a review with you of this online, go-anywhere version of Teaching Textbooks!
Online Homeschool Math
The first thing I love about TT 3.0 is that it is completely web-based, so my kids don’t have to wait to do their math on a certain computer because another child is using it for their schoolwork. When we first started with the classic version of Teaching Textbooks, I didn’t think this would be an issue, but I realized too late that my kids had all started their math on the SAME computer. Not good because once it is started on a computer, you have to continue on that computer or lose all of your information. It was so nice to be able to set up the web version and know that my kids could do their math from any computer in the house! They can even use a tablet or phone with the Puffin browser! Talk about math on the go!
Easy Setup and User Interface
Teaching Textbooks has always had an easy user interface, and nothing has changed about that with 3.0. It was a very easy transition because everything looked the same. Setup for the web version was also very simple and quick to do.
At the beginning of each session, the child types in the parent’s email address and then their own name and password. I kept my children’s passwords very short, simple, and relevant to them so they could easily remember them.
From there, the interface looks much the same as it does in the classic version – something greatly appreciated by this mama (and those of my children who do not like change)!
New Buddies and Backgrounds
If you’re not familiar with Teaching Textbooks, there is a little cartoonish character that joins them for their lessons called a Buddy. While my 13 year old daughter did not like very many of the new Buddies, she loved the backgrounds that were available on 3.0. She ended up choosing the Hedgehog buddy and the Space City background (but she regularly changes the background for the fun of it).
Same Easy Grading and Parent Controls
Teaching Textbooks is perfect for our large homeschooling family because it takes a huge load off of me. Math is not my strong suit, and I would much rather put my time and energy into other aspects of our homeschool. However, I believe math is very important, and I want my kids to get a good math education. Teaching Textbooks allows me to hand the reins to someone else without worrying about anything, including the grades! TT 3.0 has the same ease of grading, as well as the ability to change various aspects of the program, and even pause the lessons for up to 3 months!
That leads me to the best part…
