You shall utterly destroy all the places where the nations which you shall dispossess served their gods…
Destroy the high places.
Some did as they were told. Most did not.
I don’t know if they just didn’t care or if they figured they would get around to it someday or perhaps they just didn’t feel like fighting that battle.
Perhaps, they kind of liked the high places themselves and found ways to justify their disobedience.
I’ve justified high places before.
I’ve told myself they aren’t that bad.
I’ve worried it wasn’t a battle worth fighting.
I’ve figured someday I’d get around to it.
But, the bottom line is…
I left the high places there.
How important is God in your life?
Is He important enough for you to rid your life of anything that smacks of idol worship?
Is He important enough to weed out anything and everything
that has been a problem in the past?
Is He important enough to utterly destroy the high places?
And it isn’t a one-time-takes-care-of-it-all deal. It’s a constant thing because we are naturally worshipers and when we take our focus from worshiping God, we naturally find idols and high places to worship.
Tear them down.
Not because I said so, but, because we are in a battle…
and apathy and lack of focus don’t win wars.
Weekends in the Word is a ministry of Raising Arrows meant to offer a time of worship and encouragement specifically for those mommies who find themselves, due to circumstances beyond their control, unable to attend worship services with other believers. However, all are welcome here each weekend to feast on His Word.
